Briefly introduce ammonium fluorosilicate
Ammonium fluorosilicate (chemical formula: (NH ₄) ₂ SiF ₆, also known as ammonium hexafluorosilicate) is a white crystalline powder, toxic, and corrosive inorganic fluoride.
1、 Basic properties
Appearance: Colorless or white crystalline powder, odorless, with two crystal forms: α (equiaxed crystal system) and β (triclinic crystal system).
Solubility: soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, insoluble in acetone.
Stability: Stable at room temperature; Decompose at around 350 ℃, releasing toxic gases such as ammonia and hydrogen fluoride; When encountering acid, hydrogen fluoride is released, which corrodes glass and metal.
Toxicity: Highly toxic, harmful to the skin, mucous membranes, respiratory tract, and can cause fluorosis.
2、 Main purpose
Glass industry: etchants, fluxes.
Metal processing: light metal casting/electroplating flux, rust inhibitor.
Anti corrosion and disinfection: wood preservatives, textile mothproofing agents, and disinfectants for the brewing industry.
Other: Preparation of artificial cryolite, chemical analysis reagents (for measuring barium salts).
3、 Production and Safety
Preparation: Fluorinated silicic acid is neutralized with ammonia, crystallized, and dried to obtain.
Safety: Closed operation and ventilation protection are required to avoid contact with acid and high temperature; Belonging to hazardous chemicals.
