What should be noted when using potassium fluorosilicate
info:www.hongjiafu.net  |  Release time:2026-08-11
      Potassium fluorosilicate belongs to toxic fluorine-containing powders, which release corrosive and toxic smoke when exposed to acid and high temperature. The core of operation revolves around dust prevention, contact prevention, staying away from acid and high temperature, and standardized waste liquid disposal.
1、 Working environment and personal protection
1. Maintain ventilation in the operating area, prioritize the installation of local exhaust devices, and try to avoid powder flying; The feeding, crushing, and screening actions are gentle to prevent dust from spreading.
2. Operators must be equipped with protective equipment: dust masks, chemical goggles, acid and alkali resistant rubber gloves, and anti-seepage work clothes; Wearing short sleeves and slippers during work is prohibited.
3. Eating, drinking, and smoking are strictly prohibited at the work site; Wash your hands and face carefully after completing the operation, and do not rub your eyes directly with your hands.
4. Multiple people work on site, clarify emergency response methods in advance, and keep clean water on site.
2、 Key points for feeding, dissolution, and reaction operations
1. Use the material at low temperatures as much as possible, as it is prone to hydrolysis in hot water; The solution temperature should not be too high to reduce the release of harmful gases.
2. It is strictly prohibited to mix directly with various strong acids, as contact between the two can quickly generate corrosive gases such as hydrogen fluoride and silicon tetrafluoride; Separate storage and operation of acid-base systems.
3. Stir and add slowly, do not vigorously impact the material, and reduce dust; If a suspension needs to be prepared, slowly add water to prevent splashing.
4. Without unprotected high-temperature heating, potassium fluorosilicate decomposes under high temperature conditions, releasing toxic fluoride fumes.
5. Pay attention to equipment corrosion during long-term continuous use, and prioritize using plastic or PTFE containers to avoid prolonged exposure of ordinary glass to high concentration suspensions.
3、 Storage and transportation requirements
1. Store in a cool, dry, and ventilated warehouse, with sealed containers to prevent moisture absorption and clumping; Stay away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
2. Store in designated areas and prohibit mixing with acids, strong oxidants, and food ingredients; Locking management of storage areas.
3. Handle with care during transportation to prevent packaging bag damage and powder leakage; Do not directly sweep away dust from scattered materials, sprinkle water to wet them before collecting.
4. Empty packaging bags still have residual powder attached and cannot be discarded at will. They should be collected in accordance with hazardous waste regulations.
4、 Emergency response to leakage
1. Minor spillage: Spray water to wet the dust, collect it in a closed container with a plastic shovel, and do not dry sweep the dust; Rinse the contaminated ground repeatedly with clean water.
2. Large scale leakage: isolate the site, evacuate unrelated personnel, and collect only after workers wear full protective gear; The flushing wastewater shall not be directly discharged outside.
5、 Key points of first aid for personal contact
1. Skin contamination: Immediately remove contaminated clothing, rinse with plenty of flowing water continuously, and seek medical attention if discomfort persists.
2. In the eyes: Open the eyelids and rinse with water continuously for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention immediately.
3. Inhalation of dust: Move to a place with fresh air, keep breathing unobstructed, and seek medical attention promptly if chest tightness or cough occurs.
4. Accidental ingestion: Rinse mouth immediately, do not induce vomiting on your own, and seek medical attention as soon as possible.
6、 Wastewater and waste residue treatment
1. All waste liquid and filter residue containing potassium fluorosilicate cannot be directly discharged into the sewer, which belongs to hazardous waste containing fluorine.
2. Waste liquid needs to be collected separately and treated with lime precipitation to reduce fluoride ion concentration. It can only be disposed of after meeting the standard; Entrust qualified units to recycle solid residues.
7、 Important safety red line
1. Do not feed or heat in large quantities in confined spaces;
2. It is prohibited to have prolonged contact with dry powder or suspension with bare hands;
3. Do not mix other chemicals at will, especially various inorganic acids;
4. Long term exposure poses a risk of fluoride accumulation and damage, so avoid uninterrupted long-term work.
