What are the requirements for the use of ethyl nonafluorobutyl ether
info:www.hongjiafu.net  |  Release time:2026-09-28
Ethyl nonafluorobutyl ether (HFE-7200, hydrofluoroether) is commonly used for precision cleaning, leak detection, and immersion cooling of photovoltaics/electronics. It is non flammable and has no flash point, but high temperatures can thermally decompose and produce toxic and corrosive fumes such as hydrogen fluoride. Below is a complete explanation of the operating environment, personal protection, process use, material compatibility, storage, emergency response, waste management, and environmental control.
1、 Working environment and ventilation requirements
1. The operating area must have local ventilation and overall ventilation, and should be used first in fume hoods or enclosed cleaning equipment. It is forbidden to open large areas for prolonged volatilization; The 8-hour weighted average exposure limit is 200ppm, and the workshop needs to regularly monitor steam concentration to prevent steam accumulation.
2. Keep away from high-temperature heat sources, open flames, electric arcs, and high-temperature heating surfaces, and strictly prohibit exceeding their thermal decomposition temperature. High temperature decomposition product HF has strong corrosiveness and can damage respiratory tract and equipment; Although not flammable, it produces toxic fluoride smoke when exposed to high temperatures.
3. Keep the work area dry, prevent seepage on the ground, and set up liquid collection trays to prevent leakage and overflow of liquids; Do not discharge directly into the sewer.
4. Steam is heavier than air and tends to accumulate in low-lying areas, so ventilation should be strengthened in low-lying spaces.
2、 Personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
1. Eye area: Wear chemical goggles and add a face screen during extensive operation to prevent liquid splashing into the eyes.
2. Hands: Use nitrile rubber solvent resistant gloves; Ordinary latex gloves are not resistant to hydrofluoroethers and should not be used. Prolonged contact can cause swelling and failure.
3. Body: Wear chemical resistant workwear/lab coats to prevent liquids from soaking clothing.
4. Breathing: Good ventilation does not require a gas mask; When there is insufficient ventilation, opening the cover for maintenance and cleaning of the tank, or dealing with a large amount of leaks, wear an organic vapor canister respiratory protective device.
5. Wash hands after homework, and no eating or smoking is allowed in the work area.
3、 Process usage requirements (key focus of photovoltaic/precision cleaning scenarios)
When used as a gas-phase cleaning agent, control the heating temperature of the cleaning tank to not exceed the upper limit of the equipment process, and strictly prohibit overheating and dry burning; Establish a stable steam layer and immerse the workpiece in the steam zone to avoid prolonged immersion in the superheated liquid phase.
2. Before the workpiece is put into the groove, strong alkaline and acidic residues should be removed, and acid-base bands can accelerate the deterioration of the medium; The workpiece must be dry, and a large amount of water mixed in will reduce the cleaning effect and accelerate equipment corrosion in the long run.
3. Regularly monitor the purity, acidity, and moisture of the medium, and promptly filter, distill, and regenerate it; An increase in acidity and discoloration indicates decomposition and immediate replacement is required.
4. When used for leak detection/immersion cooling: confirm the system seal to prevent long-term continuous volatilization loss; The electrical insulation performance is good, but it cannot be used in high-voltage and strong discharge scenarios, as arcing can cause dielectric decomposition.
5. Control the flow rate of spray and agitation to minimize aerosol atomization, which will increase the inhalation risk.
4、 Material compatibility requirements
1. Stable to most metals (copper, stainless steel, aluminum); Some rubber, soft elastomers, and some plastics will swell and crack. Material compatibility testing must be conducted before use, and sealing components other than ordinary natural rubber and some nitrile cannot be directly used.
2. It is recommended to use perfluororubber FFKM and PTFE polytetrafluoroethylene as sealing components; Ordinary PVC, ABS, and ordinary polyurethane need to be verified in advance.
5、 Storage requirements
1. Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse at room temperature, avoid direct sunlight, keep away from heating equipment, and keep the container tightly sealed to prevent volatilization and moisture from entering.
2. Store separately and do not mix with strong acids, bases, or oxidants.
3. Use original containers labeled with the chemical name and SDS; Open the lid and record the opening date, and regularly check the container for leaks.
4. The warehouse is equipped with leak absorbing materials, collection buckets, and a leak proof cofferdam on the ground.
6、 Leakage and emergency response requirements
1. Minor leakage: Stop work, strengthen ventilation, wear protective equipment, collect with inert adsorption cotton, do not rinse directly.
2. Large scale leakage: isolate the area, evacuate personnel, cut off nearby heat sources, and prevent them from flowing into the trench; Collect to dedicated waste liquid tank.
3. Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and rinse the skin with plenty of water.
4. Splash into eyes: Rinse with water continuously for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention promptly.
5. Inhale excessive steam: Transfer to fresh air and seek medical attention immediately if breathing becomes difficult.
6. Fire: The medium itself is not flammable, but the high temperature in the fire will cause it to decompose and produce HF smoke; Firefighters should wear full respiratory protection and use water mist to cool containers. Do not spray directly onto liquids.
7、 Requirements for Waste Liquid and Waste Disposal
1. Waste liquid, waste absorbent cotton, and contaminated packaging materials belong to hazardous chemical waste and cannot be dumped at will. Qualified hazardous waste units should be entrusted to recycle and handle them, in accordance with local hazardous waste regulations.
2. Empty barrels need to be thoroughly purged, residual steam collected, and disposed of in hazardous waste packaging.
8、 Environmental Protection and Compliance Requirements
1. ODP=0, Low GWP, but it belongs to volatile fluorinated compounds and requires control over unorganized emissions to meet local waste gas emission requirements.
2. SDS safety technical manuals must be provided on site, and operators must be trained in advance to familiarize themselves with risk points.
